Bienert Katzman Littrell Williams LLP is one of 20 firms selected as California’s Top Boutiques for 2023 by the Daily Journal.

BKLW is a 16-attorney litigation firm with locations in Orange County and Los Angeles County.  Founded in 2000 by former Assistant United States Attorney Thomas H. Bienert, Jr., BKLW boasts a roster of experienced trial lawyers with a diversity of backgrounds in state and federal criminal defense, complex civil litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency matters, investigations, and more.

“Our guiding principle is that good lawyers experienced in litigation can cross-practice in almost any matter,” Tom told the Daily Journal.

The Daily Journal highlighted recent case successes in the firm’s civil and criminal defense practice, including the abrupt dismissal of all federal anti-kickback charges against BKLW’s client after the team exposed the false assumptions underlying the government’s case and serious errors by the prosecution team, as well as a walkaway settlement for media mogul Larry Flynt’s wife in a years-long battle against his estranged brother over Mr. Flynt’s estate.

In its bankruptcy practice, led by former United States Bankruptcy Trustee and Assistant United States Attorney Steven J. Katzman, BKLW represented the liquidating trustee of one of the largest health systems in California seeking more than $60 million in fraudulent transfers made to the health system’s former management company.  The matter resolved favorably through mediation.  Additionally, BKLW helped a leading manufacturer and global distributor of health supplements recover 100% on its multi-million dollar claim in the bankruptcy of a supplement supplier.

“Bienert Katzman Littrell Williams LLP punches above its weight in major cases,” the Daily Journal writes.

BKLW continues to expand its practice and expertise. In 2023, the Firm welcomed partners Pamela Naughton and Rebecca Roberts, a powerhouse government and internal investigations team with experience in complex civil, criminal, and administrative cases.  In 2022, partner Daniel Z. Goldman joined the firm bringing his depth of knowledge and experience in financial and securities fraud, securities and derivative litigation, and other high-stakes litigation and investigations.  Along with seasoned veterans, BKLW is joined by younger attorneys who bring a breadth of experience and perspective from diverse backgrounds.
