Representative Matters
- Represented a physician falsely charged with conspiracy to violate the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute in the Central District of California. After more than a year of contested litigation, the prosecution dismissed all charges against BKLW’s client.
- Secured dismissals of multiple civil cases with prejudice that had been filed against Tim Ballard, the founder and former CEO of an anti-child trafficking organization, and his wife Katherine. Among other things, Utah courts agreed with Alexis and the BKLW team’s arguments that claims were barred by a release contained in one plaintiff’s contract with Mr. Ballard and that Utah’s Uniform Public Expression Act insulated Mrs. Ballard from liability for statements she had made on podcasts.
- Litigated several insurance coverage matters involving environmental and medical device manufacturing defect claims, resulting in eight-figure recoveries for the insureds.
- Represented several executives of a Fortune 100 automobile manufacturer in DOJ and SEC investigations.
- Represented a major medical device manufacturer in an internal and DOJ investigation of cyber hacking.
- Served as California counsel for a New York-based asset management firm, in its proxy contest and settlement with PG&E.
